Practical journals for the protection of Venice
The “Practical journals for the active protection of Venice” seek to be operational tools for Organizations, private citizens, technicians and businesses operating on the territory and to provide them with a constant and circumstantial guide to construction.
The studies included are based on a synthesis of the opinions expressed in recent years by the Superintendence of architectural and landscape heritage of Venice and its Lagoon* concerning the results of some recent research and studies on the Lagoon’s construction history and some exemplary restoration operations. The creation and publication of these practical Journals has the purpose of increasing operators’ and users’ awareness concerning the peculiarities of Venetian characters by providing common examples of the projects’ assessments, techniques and set-ups.
The practical Journals for the active protection of Venice are a project of the 2012-2018 Management Plan, which is inserted in the framework of the Action Plan “Protection and preservation of the patrimony”.
The project was created by the Superintendence of architectural and landscape heritage of Venice and Lagoon with the contribution of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Law 77/2006 – “Special measures of protection and enjoyment of Italian sites of cultural, landscape and environmental interest, inserted in the List of World Heritage and placed under the protection of the UNESCO” - as well as with the funds of the European SUSTCULT project.
In 2013, the first Journal was published, entitled “The plaster and wall surfaces of Venice’s facades: knowledge and operations”.
