Buffer Zone

The Buffer Zone is a territory which directly influences the protection and preservation of the Site’s heritage. This area of protection has the purpose of contributing to the preservation of the landscape by protecting the remarkable views, and is also conceived as an area of logistic support for any activity related to the enjoyment of the Site’s heritage. Therefore, it needs to have the function of safeguarding nature and the landscape, as well as contain a series of functions and services that can filter the various kinds of pressure weighing on the Site.

The Buffer Zone of the UNESCO Site “Venice and its Lagoon” is currently being defined.
